MongoDB – mongo like candy

Craig Hogan

A few years ago the idea of not using SQL server (MS access?) to store/manage your data would have been more than scary. However as the NoSQL community gains momentum it seems that some of these relatively ‘lite’ DB platforms could prove to be play a big part in storing and managing data for future applications. In this session Craig will cover the MongoDB platform from install to working with it in a ‘live’ environment.

Craig Hogan (@chillfire) has been a freelance web developer/consultant for the last 5 years, working on small through to large sized asp.net platforms, for a variety of UK companies.

He also specialise in search engine marketing/optimisation.

Object Thinking

Alan Dean

Have we got object-orientation all wrong? "Object Thinking" (ISBN 0-7356-1965-4 or amazon.co.uk) by David West asserts that we have. In this session, Alan Dean explores this assertion and discusses this seminal book.

Alan Dean is seasoned professional developer and thought leader, with well over a decade of experience of leading teams, working mostly with Microsoft products.

He has a broad interest in software development both with reference to the hands-on task of writing effective code, alongside architectural considerations, and the process of producing software as a team.

Since 2002, he has been an active extreme programmer working with agile processes.
